Especially unusual offerings further on this afternoon:
At 1730/1:30PM, another chance to hear Waltraud Meier in one of her most reassuring and polished performances in recent memory: an inspired Isolde at the Opera de la Bastille this year, in a Tristan und Isolde led by Esa Pekka Salonen, also featuring the leading Tristan today, Ben Heppner, and Yvonne Naef's strong Brangaene; heard over Cesky Rozhlas 3 - Vltava.
NPR World of Opera, broadcast over many U.S. radio stations over the Web at 1730/1:30PM, brings us Glimmerglass's youthful production of Puccini's Fanciulla del West.
Also from Glimmerglass, WCNY brings us their production of Poulenc's Dialogues of the Carmelites, with Maria Kanyova as Blanche, Joyce Castle as Madame de Croissy, Robynne Redmon as Mother Marie, Sarah Coburn as Sister Constance, Anne Evans as Madame Lidoine and Jake Gardner as the Marquis de la Force.
You can also catch at the same time slot the last installment of the Opera Stage series: Beethoven's Fidelio, starring Deborah Voigt (Stanford Olsen sings Jaquino and James Morris Don Fernando), heard over KBYU.
And there's another Fidelio, at the same time, heard over Radio Oesterreich International, featuring Camilla Nylund, Kurt Streit and Peter Rose, Bertrand de Billy conducting.
Again, please stay "tuned". More to come.
