Highlights for Saturday, April 7, 2007

Welcome to another Saturday of Web opera streaming on OperaCast.com.

This Easter weekend finds two stations, RADIO SLOVENIA TRETJI / KLARA, offering a rerun today of last summer's Bayreuth Festival Parsifal, under Adam Fischer, starting GMT 1700/EDT 1:00PM.

Starting at GMT 1730/EDT 1:30PM, you can catch Olga Borodina and Carl Tanner in Saint-Saens's Samson et Dalila, over RADIO OESTERREICH INTERNATIONAL.

Veronique Gens can be heard at the same time as Arminda in Mozart's La Finta Giardiniera, over SVERIGES RADIO P2.

Also, at the Met, Ben Heppner tackles Giordano's Andrea Chenier, alongside colleagues Violeta Urmana and Mark Delavan; in addition to the American Metropolitan Opera Radio Network, a dozen stations in Europe will also be carrying this performance.

At GMT 1800/EDT 2:00PM, you have a choice of another Andrea Chenier, over ESPACE 2: an historic performance from 1960 under Lovro von Matacic, starring Franco Corelli, Renata Tebaldi and Ettore Bastianini, all in their prime.

At GMT 2200/EDT 6:00PM, RADIO TRE (RAI) brings you yet another historic performance, this time from 1970: Donizetti's La Favorita, starring Fiorenza Cossotto, in a cast that includes Mario Sereni as the King.

And there are a number of other offerings today in addition, all covering a wide variety of styles and genres in opera, ready for you to catch and enjoy!

Happy listening!
