Cinco de Mayo - Operatic pleasures

Hitting the high spots, The Met's final broadcast of the season features David Daniels and Maija Kovalevska (of whom we hear great things) as Gluck's Orfeo and Euridice, a Walküre from Stockholm with Jane Eaglen as Brunnhilde, an Ariadne auf Naxos from Espace 2 with Nina Stemme and Massenet's Manon with Netrebko and Alagna. Here's today's lineup:

  • DeutschlandRadio Kultur - Live from Theatre Gara, Matthus's Cosima, with Elvira Dressen, Teruhiko Komori, Gavin Taylor, Gerlinde Illich, Tommaso Randazzo, Serge Novique and Bernhard Hänsch, conducted by Erik Solén.
  • DR P2 - From last summer's Rossini Festival in Pesaro, Rossini's Torvaldo e Dorliska, with Michele Pertusi, Darina Takova, Francesco Meli, Bruno Praticò, Jeannette Fischer and Simone Alberghini, conducted by Victor Pablo Pérez.
  • France Musique & MDR Figaro - From l'Opéra Bastille in Paris, Charpentier's Louise, with Mireille Delunsch, Jane Henschel, Marie-Paule Dotti, Natacha Constantin, Anne Salvan, Paul Groves, José Van Dam, Luca Lombardo and François Bidault, conducted by Sylvain Cambreling.
  • Radio 4 Netherlands - From the 1991 Holland Festival, a concert performance in the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam of Berio's Un re in ascolto, with Donald McIntyre, Peter Haage, Graham Valentine and Kathryn Harries, conducted by Stephen Harrap.
  • Metropolitan Opera (numerous stations) - The final broadcast of the season, Gluck's Orfeo ed Euridice, with Maija Kovalevska, David Daniels and Heidi Grant Murphy, conducted by James Levine.
  • NRK Alltis Klassisk & NRK P2 - From Norwegian opera, a March 11th performance of Wagner's Die Walküre, with Ivar Gilhuus, Carsten Stabell, Trond Halstein Moe, Michaela Schuster, Jane Eaglen, Hege Høisæter, Toril Calrsen, Ingjerd Oda Mantor, Itziar Martinez Galdos, Trine Øien, Ingrid Dominique, Anna Einarsson, Marianne E.   • Sveriges Radio P2 - Live from Kungliga Opera in Stockholm, Mozart's Così fan tutte, with Maria Fontosh, Susann Végh,Jonas Degerfeldt, Peter Mattei, Hilde Leidland and Gunnar Lundberg, conducted by Okko Kamu.
  • WVIK (NPR World of Opera) - Another performance of Mozart's Così fan tutte, this one with the Vienna Philharmonic, with Sophie Koch, Ana María Martínez, Stéphane Degout, Shawn Mathey, Sir Thomas Allen and Helen Donath, conducted by Manfred Honeck.
  • Cesky Rozhlas 3-Vltava - Smetanan's Libuše, with Marie Podvalová, Theodor Šrubar, Karel Kalaš, Beno Blachut, Jaroslav Veverka, Borek Rujan, Ludmila Cervinková, Marta Krásová, Miluše Dvoráková, Miloslava Fidlerová, Vera Krilová, and Jaroslav Gleich, conducted by Alois Klíma.
  • Dwojke Polskie Radio - From the 2006 Letni Festival, Monteverdi's L’Orfeo, with Furio Zanasi, Monserrat Figueras, Arianna Savall, Adriana Fernandez, Sara Mingardo, Fulvio Bettini, Romina Basso, Antonio Abeta and Daniele Carnovich, conducted by Jordi Savall.
  • Espace 2 - With Orchestre de la Suisse Romande, Strauss's Ariadne auf Naxos, with Wolfgang Barta, Eike Wilm Schulte, Katarina Karneus, Hubert Delamboye, Olivier Ringelhahn, Jane Archibald, Nina Stemme, Henrike Jacob, Isabelle Henriquez, Klara Ek, Brett Polegato, Alexandre Kravets, Martin Snell, Bernard Richter, Nicolas Carré, Lyonel Grélaz and Philippe Casperd, conducted by Jeffrey Tate.

  • WDAV (NPR World of Opera) - Another chance to hear last week's NPR offering, from Washington National Opera, Puccini's Manon Lescaut, with Veronica Villaroel, Franco Farina, Roberto Servile, William Parcher and Corey Evan Rotz, conducted by Placido Domingo.
