Back from vacation ...Saturday, June 9, 2007
The OperaCast elves were on semi-vacation for the last couple of Saturdays (this means spending time in a vacation paradise, but with one eye still on the computer), but it's nice to be back.
Several nice things for our listening pleasure this afternoon - Bartok's Rheingold; Monteverdi's L'Orfeo from Espace Musique; RDP Antena 2's rebroadcast of the Vienna Otello with Stoyanova; all three available Chicago Lyric offereings: Romeo et Juliette (with the wonderful Matthew Polenzani!), Iphigenie en Tauride (from WQXR) with Susan Graham, and Salome with Deborah Voigt; BBC Radio 3's (although noone can replace the sorely missed Hunt-Liebersons' Melisande...); NPR's Pelleas et MelisandeThe Maid of Orleans with the remarkable Mirella Freni; and Radio Tre's archival Puccini performances on Saturday and Sunday evenings.
