So What's Left for Today's Listening?
Not much, unfortunately (Blogger was acting sclerotic this afternoon).
Everything is well underway, except for the Met Die Walküre on Lyric FM from Ireland (just starting).
Later on in their weekend archival series, Radio Tre (RAI) is airing a 1954 broadcast from Milan of Rossini's Guglielmo Tell with Paolo Silveri, Mario Filippeschi, Raffaele Arié, Antonio Massaria, Margherita Benetti, Giannella Borelli, Mario Carlin, Attilio Barbesi, Nicola Zaccaria, Anna Maria Rovere, Angelo Mercuriali and Paolo Washington, conducted by Nino Sanzogno. Their Sunday evening broadcast will feature Filippeschi in Bellini's I Puritani from Rome with Lina Pagliughi, Rolando Panerai and Sesto Bruscantini, Fernando Previtali conducting.
On WDAV this evening, NPR World of Opera offers a Domingo Trilogy from Washington National Opera: he sings Act Three of Giordano's Fedora, with Sylvie Valayre, Amanda Squitieri and Lee Poulis; Act Four of Verdi's Otello with Barbara Frittoli, Erin Elizabeth Smith, John Marcus Bindel and Corey Evan Rotz; and Act Three of Lehar's The Merry Widow with Christiane Noll, Leslie Mutchler, Steven Condy and Corey Evan Rotz; Heinz Frick conducts the Otello excerpt and Eugene Kohn conducts the Fedora and Merry Widow excerpts.
Happy listening. Those RAI offerings tonight and tomorrow night look particularly promising.
