Quick & Dirty Hilights for Sat., 7/26/08

KBYU is repeating the LA Opera broadcast of Jenufa with Karita Mattila, Jorma Silvasti, Kim Begley and Eva Urbanova - if you have yet to hear this, today nay be your last opportunity to catch this stellar performance of one of Mattila's touchstone roles.

NRK Klassik and NRK P2 is repeating the First Night of the Proms from Royal Albert Hall, which includes Christine Brewer singing Strauss' Four Last Songs (as an apparent late replacement for Mattila, but still luxury casting!)

Latvia Radio Klasica has been picking up some historic Met broadcasts of late - today's is the famous 1956 broadcast of Tosca with Tebaldi, Tucker and Warren, conducted by Mitropoulos.

Happy listening, kiddies....
